Help promote sustainable development and conservation of flora in Santiago.
Founded in 1976, the organisation is the first organisation in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean whose main goal is to protect the environment. The organisation began with a focus on preserving the sacred “Pico Diego de Ocampo” mountain located in the province of Santiago, but has since expanded its mission. Now its programs include sustainable development, conservation of plants, and general improvement in the quality of life of local communities. They focus on issues concerning ecology and the environment in Hispaniola and other areas.
You will be guided and supported by the local staff and will be expected to work in various projects such as:
- assisting with environmental projects, such as planting trees or the creation of new green parks
- supporting administrative planning
- participating in educational programs with local communities and educational centres
You will take part in orientations upon arrival, during mid-stay, and at the end of your stay. During these orientations, you’ll learn about the importance of relationship-building with your host family and local community.
