Make an invaluable contribution to the community of a small town by teaching a language and or sports at a local school.
Work at an organisation that gives children in La Romana an opportunity for an education. Most of the children in the community come from families with little resources. The organisation aims to offer a solid education to enable their students to continue onto higher education and gain access to the labor market.
You will be able to assist teachers in language classes, establish conversational groups in the target language to improve the overall level of comprehension and oral expression (English, French or German), and develop learning programs adapted various level of learning. You can also teach sports, create a recycling project, or develop a sewing program.
You will be guided and supported by the school staff while taking part in orientations upon arrival, during mid-stay, and at the end of your stay. During these orientations, you’ll learn about the importance of relationship-building with your host family and local community. The program also welcomes new ideas and suggestions by volunteers.
