Program Overview

Our volunteering program in Mandeh focuses on facilitating and developing the raw potentials of the local people. With stunning location and untouched nature, the local community is looking to develop an eco-tourism complex that will hopefully create more economic growth. They are excited to grow with their hometown and to share the pristine beauty of their islands with visitors from all around the world.

Before your volunteering period starts, we will first equip you with on-arrival orientation on your upcoming intercultural experience. We want to ensure you are utterly ready for your volunteering journey in Indonesia. So let’s get started!

To start off, our team will inform you about the detailed information and comprehension on the program(s) you are going to experience. Some of the materials covered are as the following: Introduction of Organizations, Managing Hopes and Expectations, Intercultural Learning (ICL) Workshop for Volunteer, Children and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy, The Basics of Bahasa Indonesia, etc. Through these orientation and workshops, we hope to help you to have more impact to the local community and help you in preparing your volunteering journey in Indonesia.

As a volunteer, you will teach English to local youth representations that will then pass the knowledge onto their peers. This lesson aims to prepare them for better communication with international visitors in the future. You may also need to include teaching materials that will help them run their business.

Located in the beautiful archipelago on the coast of West Sumatra, Mandeh boasts picturesque islands (each with unique characteristics of their own) over calm clear waters. Experience the idyllic coastal life among a tight-knit community; you will never run out of new things to learn!

Throughout the program, you will stay with a local host family, which is a wonderful opportunity to experience the local culture first-hand. Get to know what an Indonesian family is like, and learn how to navigate between the rich traditional culture and the bustling city scene!
